Pets Health Problems and Prevention of Diseases

Prevent Diseases in Pets. Can Colostrum Help in the Health of My Dogs and Cats?

Yes, as a matter of fact, most pets love colostrum. as mentioned before, bovine colostrum is not species-specific; dogs and cats will gain many health benefits from colostrum.

The health of your beloved pets can be enhanced by the addition of colostrum to their diet. If your kittens or puppies are failing to trieve, if one of your animals has a wound, abscess, stomach bug or coats are not gleaming with good health, they could well benefit from the goodness of colostrum powder.

Diarrhoea can be a common problem in recently weaned puppies and studies have shown that supplementation with bovine coclostrum can assist in the reduction of symptons and improve faecal quality.

It can be sprinkled on to their food or given in a more concentrated form mixed with water or honey to aid an upset stomach or to fight infection.

So whether your pet is a top show animal or simply a loved member of the family unit, be they young or old, just like their owners they can benefit from the addition of a daily close of colostrum.

Prevention of Diseases Customers Testimonials on Colostrum

Thyroid and Renal results weren't looking great

"A year ago I got my blood test results from my Doctor. It was all bad news. Higher than usual blood pressure, cholesterol, and the thyroid and renal results weren’t looking great. I decided that I really needed to ‘try’ Alpha Lipid Lifeline. Six months later my tests results showed such an improvement and my Doctor was quite excited. Now 6 months later the thyroid result showed up normal. This is amazing as I have suffered with an inactive thyroid for many years.Soon after starting on Alpha Lipid Lifeline, Frank and I found that we had a lot more energy. My weak, soft nails have hardened, and we have definitely built up an immunity to the flu bugs that get shared amongst our work colleagues. Any sign of a scratchy throat and out comes the Flunox and Immufort." Jenny Kennedy

Crohns Disease

My life was extremely busy as I was working full time, running a home and raising two kids (aged eight and two), when I started to develop severe mouth and throat ulcers. I had a week off work, but I couldn’t even eat because my throat was so painful - even drinking was agony!
After a few weeks, I went to hospital, but the doctors could not help me.
I resigned from work as I thought it might help me to heal. My doctor gave me all kinds of different treatments, but nothing could really cure me. I had one of the worst cases of Crohn’s disease they had ever seen.
My aunt Julie recommended that I try Symbiotics Colostrum. I decided that I would, although I was unsure if it would work. I went onto Symbiotics New Life Colostrum Drink, and after about three days I started to feel really good. My pain had gone, and I felt emotionally more normal. In fact, I actually felt better than before I got the Crohn’s!

I kept on taking the Symbiotics New Life Colostrum Drink , and every month I visited the specialists, they were incredulous. On my first visit they were amazed and couldn’t believe their eyes: my case had been so acute, they didn’t expect me to even begin healing for months, but here I was after four weeks, and the inflammation had completely gone.
After just a month of normal results, I stopped taking the steroid tablets (prescribed to help the inflammation), which they had expected me to take perhaps for the rest of my life. Nothing flared back up.
Now every day I take two scoops of Symbiotics New Life Colostrum Drink in a milkshake. I feel great! Carolyn Dudley-Smith, New Zealand

Irritable Bowel

54 years with irritable bowel - one week with Symbiotics New Life Colostrum Drink .
I have suffered from irritable bowel syndrome for 54 years. I have tried all sorts of remedies and been through tests by the hundreds without any real results.
My Symbiotics representative recommended that I try Symbiotics New Life Colostrum Drink. I thought “why not?”, and took two scoops. It was amazing! Within 24 hours I felt an improvement, and within a week, I felt so much better – now I can really life my life to the full, without having to worry about my health.
This makes Colostrum a miracle for me, and it’s so easy and pleasant to take. Mal Hill, Bundaberg, Queensland, Australia

How to Prevent Diseases with Colostrum Frequently Asked Questions

Can children take colostrum?
Absolutely. Colostrum can help growing children in many ways, from better concentration, increased memory plus children have a higher tendency to catch colds and illness from other schoolmates and colostrum will help immensely.

Can I take colostrum with other supplements and medications?
Colostrum actually helps your body and works to regulate your body's absorption rates. Colostrum heals the digestive tract so well that all substances eaten internally (food, herbs, natural healing substances, and medications) will become more bioavailability to the body. Although colostrum has no known drug interactions, you may find that the other supplements and medications that you are taking could have a more pronounced effect.

Do the immunoglobulins and growth factors in colostrum survive pasteurisation?
Tests have been carried out on colostrum (which is flash pasteurised at 72 degree C for 15 seconds) show that the colostrum retains its bioactivity during this process.

How Does Colostrum Differ From Plain Milk?
Colostrum not only contains all the goodness of milk but also contains significant levels of growth promoting and disease fighting substances commonly referred to as growth factors, immune factors and immunoglobulins. These substances are also present in milk but at negligible levels. Further, colostrum has a much higher protein, vitamin, mineral content and is lower in lactose.

How does colostrum interact with other medicines and supplements?
Colostrum actually helps your body and works to regulate your body's absorption rates. In effect you will be getting more bang for your buck with everything you consume whether its water, supplements and food. You will be getting greater benefits since your body will be able to utilize them more. You may even find that you don't need to take as much as normal since your body is able to absorb all the nutrients.

How does colostrum produce the anti-aging results?
Colostrum works with your body to utilize its natural substances and increases your overall health. After puberty our body begins slowing down the production of growth hormones. These hormones are necessary for the reproduction of virtually all of our body cellular tissue. It has been shown that by age 80 we are producing virtually no growth hormones, and so we age and die. Colostrums growth factors are the actual hormones that stimulate the normal reproduction of body cellular tissue. Normal reproduction means just that (normal) not aged, cancerous, wrinkled, or weakened. The New England Journal of Medicine (a few years back) stated that the most effective anti-aging process would be simply the replacement of growth hormones at proper levels to slow, possibly stop and even reverse the aging processes.

How Does Colostrum Work?
The main function in the newborn is in the form of transfer of passive immunity from the mother to the child. The mother has been exposed to a variety of environmental factors and organisms to which her immune system has produced antibodies during her lifetime. In transfer of passive immunity the mother passes on her complement of antibodies to these various factors onto her offspring. In humans and apes the mother passively immunises her young in utero by passage of antibodies through the placenta. In animals where maternal antibodies do not pass the placental barrier (horses, cattle, pigs, and sheep) the young are passively immunised immediately after birth by way of colostrum. In these species the maternal antibodies present in the colostrum are absorbed directly through the gut in the first few days following birth.

How much colostrum should I take?
The amount of colostrum you take varies from person to person. The label suggests 2 to 3 capsules twice daily, but if your recovering from an injury you may want to start off taking more than this. Also, if you feel a cold or flu coming on you may want to up your dosage to help you recover quicker and relieve your symptoms.

I am vegetarian and I do not eat animal food.
Colostrum is neither animal nor vegetable. We take very good care of our cattle and make sure they are healthy and live a long happy life. Mother Nature produced colostrum for every mammal on Earth and it is by far the healthiest choice. With that said, the choice is completely yours.

I don't want to take colostrum away from the baby calf's that need it!
Don't worry, we don't deprive calves of their colostrum. Calves need it as much as any mammal and many calves would die without it. We make sure the calves get their fill first and then we take the remainder.

Is Bovine Colostrum Safe?
Bovine colostrums have been used for years as a food supplement, its use and safety is well documented. Colostrum is completely safe; it has no negative side effects and is a whole and natural food that can be consumed in ANY quantity. There are absolutely no toxicity levels. Further the manufacture and use of dairy products, and their associated safety and nutritional benefits is also well known. Through quality control management of the entire manufacturing process, from collection of the colostrum, through to packaging and storage, ensures the colostrum is delivered in perfect condition, certified to be fit for human consumption.

Should Colostrum be pasteurised?
Absolutely! Cow manure can easily splash onto the udders contaminating them with E-coli, salmonella and other pathogenic bacteria. This creates the potential for contamination of dairy products.

Dairy products (for human consumption) must be pasteurised to kill these pathogens. There are two ways of pasteurising colostrum - the optimal flash (15 second) pasteurisation and a slow 30-minute vat process. Flash pasteurisation uses the expensive, high-tech equipment found in the modern dairy that does not denature the colostrum. With the less expensive, 30-minute pasteurisation process, a huge vat of colostrum is heated from the outside. It takes a long time to heat a large kettle of colostrum to the required temperature. During this interval, bacteria grow in the colostrum.

As the bacteria feed upon the colostrum, it denatures and destroys its effectiveness. Most colostrum that is being sold to the public today has been prepared for the animal feed market and has not been pasteurised. Colostrum is pasteurised to the most demanding of International Standards - 72°C for 15 seconds - to ensure the highest microbiological quality.

Should I be taking colostrum if I am pregnant?
Colostrum definitely wont hurt you or your fetus, but as always with anything you take during pregnancy you should check with your health care professional first. Once your baby is born it would be beneficial to start taking colostrum right away. Colostrum will help boost your immune system which suffers during child birth, it will help you recover faster and it will also help you to lose those extra pounds quicker associated with pregnancy.

What about my pets? Can they benefit from colostrum?
Yes! As a matter of fact, most pets love colostrum. Bovine colostrum is not species specific, dogs and cats will gain many health benefits from colostrum.

What are Antibodies?
Antibodies are very specialized molecules that are produced by the body's immune system. They are produced in response to the host being exposed to an immunogenic or foreign substance (antigen) such as an infectious microbe. There action is to ward off and or neutralise potentially disease-causing agents. A very important feature of antibodies is that are directed specifically to their antigen that induced their formation.

What are growth factors?
Growth factors are very small bio-active molecules which promote growth and maturation of various cell types and tissues. They are found in very high concentrations in colostrum. They not only stimulate normal growth and development but also help regenerate and accelerate the repair of aged or injured muscle, skin, bone, cartilage and nerve tissues. Growth factors also stimulate the body to burn fat for fuel instead of muscle tissue in times of fasting or dieting. They also help build lean muscle and have been shown to have a positive effect on athletic performance.

What are Immune Factors?
In addition to immunoglobulins there are other substances in colostrum that have an immune function. Collectively they have been termed "Immune Factors". Their function is to complement the various functions associated with the immune response

What are Immunoglobulins?
The immunoglobulins are a group of specialised bio-active proteins or molecules found in serum and other tissue fluids, including the milk of all mammals. There are five classes of immunoglobulin that are recognised in mammals Immunoglobulin G (IgG), Immunoglobulin A (IgA), Immunoglobulin M (IgM), Immunoglobulin E (IgE), and Immunoglobulin D (IgD).

The function of these molecules is to bind to invading organisms and to activate specific actions that help prevent to prevent infection and to rid the body of disease causing agents. They function in cell killing, inflammation and prevention of bacterial and viral attachment. The most prevalent class of immunoglobulin in all species is IgG. Immunoglobulins have an integral role in the immune defence system in that they form antibodies.

What if I'm a sports person?
ports people's bodies need optimum nutrition and they frequently injure themselves when playing so colostrum is vital, both for optimum and faster rates of healing after injury.

What if I'm lactose intolerant?
The amount of lactose in colostrum is scant - 163 mg. in two capsules compared to 13,000 mg. in one 8-oz of milk. Any discomfort would more likely be a sign that colostrum is healing the digestive tract.

What if I'm over weight?
Colostrum is great for making the body work more effectively, which makes weight loss easier.

What is Colostrum?
Colostrum is the first food for growth and immunity; it is the pre-milk or rather the first lacteal secretion that is produced by the mother in all mammals immediately following the birth of her young. Colostrum is frequently referred to as “lifes first food”. It not only supports life but also makes it flourish. Colostrum is produced in the first few days following the birth of the newborn. Colostrum is a non-toxic, non-allergenic food supplement that has no negative interactions with drugs, food or other supplements.

Each drop contains the promise of life: the immunoglobulins, growth factors, antibodies, vitamins, minerals, enzymes, amino acids, and other substances designed to provide the body with the ability to face a lifetime of invasion by micro-organisms and environmental toxins.

What is Immuno-Supplementation?
Local protection in the form of immuno-supplementation with bovine antibodies has been shown to be an effective means of providing local protection to the gastrointestinal tract against disease.

Bovine immunoglobulin in the form of antibodies, both specific and non-specific, has been shown to be effective against various diseases. In trials it has been successfully shown that specific antibodies in bovine milk are effective against both enteropathogenic and enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli, cryptosporidium, rotavirus, and Shigella flexneri.

What is Passive Immunity?
In all species of mammals the transfer of passive immunity occurs where the mother passes on her complement of antibodies to her young. In the case of the newborn this helps in protecting the young against potentially pathogen agents until the time it's own immune system is sufficiently developed to ward of infection on it's own.

What is Passive Local Protection?
In humans passive transmission of immunity occurs prior to birth and thus a newborn human baby at birth is born with a complement of maternal antibodies. After birth the antibodies present in human colostrum and milk function in local protection of the gut. In animals like the horse, cow, sheep, and goat passive transmission of maternal antibodies occurs in the first 20-48 hours following birth by way of colostrum.

During this time the newborn animal absorbs intact maternal antibodies present in the colostrum directly through the digestive tract. After the first few days the animal's digestive tract matures (gut closure) and the direct adsorption of intact antibody ceases. At this point any antibodies present in the colostrum and milk act in local protection of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract.

What is the Adaptive Immune System?
The adaptive immune system produces a specific response in response to an infective agent. This specific response is in the form of antibodies, which are produced to neutralize the invading agent.

A very important feature of the adaptive immune system is that it involves memory, in that gives rise to resistance to repeated exposure or infection by the same invading agent. The importance of this memory factor is seen in childhood diseases such as Chicken Pox, Measles, and Mumps in which the adaptive immune system produces a life-long immunity following infection.

What is the Immune System?
The immune system is a natural defence mechanism by which the body fights infection. It is divided into two functional systems, the innate and adaptive immune systems.

What is the Innate Immune System?
This is the first line of defence by which the host combats infectious agents and pathogenic microbes. This is non-specific response, which proves effective against most infective agents. The skin is part of the innate immune system as it acts as a preventive barrier to most infective agents.

When is colostrum collected?
The first colostrum collected after birth is reserved for the newborn calf. New Image colostrum is collected within first 36 hours.

Why Bovine Colostrum?
Interestingly, bovine colostrum is the only form of colostrum that is not species specific. In other words, it contains all of the immune and growth factors found in all other sources and thus it can significantly benefit all other mammals, including humans of course.

Because calves are born without any immunity to airborne, disease-causing organisms, their mothers colostrum must contain a very large amount of immune and health factors. As a result bovine colostrum has 10 - 21 times the factors of human colostrum, making it the richest source of colostrum available.

Why Can't I Get Colostrum From A Local Farmer?
You can. It needs to be refrigerated and consumed before it spoils. Raw colostrum is not pasteurised and contains immune factors from just one cow. This differs from processed colostrum, which is concentrated and provides a broad base of immune factors that have been pooled from hundreds and sometimes thousands of cows.

Why do I need colostrum, as an adult?
Once puberty has passed, our bodies begin the aging process by gradually producing less of the immune and growth factors that help us fight off disease and heal damaged body tissue. Colostrum is the only natural source of these life-giving components.

Why is Colostrum Important?
Colostrum is the first food that is available to the newborn. It is not only highly nutritious but also contains substances (immunoglobulins and immune factors) that help to stimulate and augment the newborns immune system thus helping to protect the vulnerable newborn from it's new potentially harmful environment (passive transmission of immunity). Further it contains contains substances (growth factors and cytokines) which act to stimulate the development, maturation and proliferation of various tissues and organs.

The significance of colostrum is best illustrated in farm animals, such as the horse, cow, goat, sheep and pig. In these animals passive transmission of immunity occurs after birth in the form of colostrum. If these animals do not receive colostrum in the first 12 - 24 hours following birth they have a very good chance of not surviving (mortality rates of up to 25% have been reported).

Why is Local Passive Protection Important?
The importance of passive local protection is evidenced in the newborn calf where diarrhoea and other enteric infections (scours) can prove fatal. It has been widely accepted that the best source of nourishment for the infant mammal is mother's milk. This has largely been attributed to not only the nutritional benefits of mother's milk but also the presence of milk immunoglobulins providing local passive protection of the GI tract.

Why New Zealand Colostrum?
New Zealand Colostrum is recognised as the world’s premium colostrum. Why? Because it is collected only from pasture-fed cows, that are pesticide, antibiotic and hormone free. New Zealand has a strong competitive advantage in colostrum production due in part to NZ's dairy cows all calving during a single three-month period each year.

This means NZ Colostrum is collected in bulk and transported in a fresh chilled state from farms to the processing plant, in the same way as milk. This is a critical production advantage, because gentle handling, and low temperature collection and process technology preserve Colostrum's active ingredients. In other countries, colostrum is collected in batches until there is enough to process. This means it must be stored for long periods before processing, so it is frozen. Rapid freezing and rapid thawing techniques prior to processing may cause damage to the protein molecules and may compromise the integrity and biological activity of the immunoglobulins, growth factors and other biologically active components.

The absolutely best source of colostrum is from the early milk of pasture fed, non-hyperimmunised, healthy New Zealand cows. It is our temperate climate combined with our farming practices make New Zealand the absolute best supplier of colostrum. Further New Zealand milk products are renowned worldwide for their quality and consistency in both manufacture and supply. International quality auditors to ISO 9001 standards certify the testing laboratories and all manufacturing facilities.

Prevention of Diseases Colostrum vs Immune Milk

A recent comparative study was conducted in collaboration with the Otago University Department of Microbiology. In this study the antibody specifically of a hyperimmune milk product was compared with that of a colostrum product derived from non-immunieed, pasture-fed New Zealand cows.
Specific antibody titres(concentration) to a panel of 19 of the same 22 pathogenic bacteria and yeast that were used as immunising antigens were determined by enzymes-linked immuoassay (ELISA). Three of the pathogens used as immunising antigens were not available due to regulatory imports restraints, Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries (MAF). The early milk concentrate demonstrated a significantly higher IgG and IgG1 antibody titre against all of the antigens tested than the hyperimmune milk. In addition, the early milk concentrate was shown to stimulate the accumulation of immune cells in the peritoneum of Balb/c mice. The following specific antibodies to the following microbes were identified.
Pathogen Disease Condition
Bacillus cereus Food poisoning, Mastitis
Campylobacter jejuni Food Poisoning
Candida albicans Thrush - Yeast Infection
Clostridium difficile Food poisoning

How Colostrum Works to Prevent Diseases

Happy Healthy Family

Colostrum is a complex substance containing varying componants that have specific or nonspecific therapeutic and nutritional benefits. There are two main ways in which colostrum supports the human organism.

Multiple Immune Factors
Firstly, it has multiple immune factors and natural antibiotic properties provide strong support for overall immunity.

Many Growth Factors
Secondly, the many growth factors in colostrum offer a broad spectrum boost to he body encouraging optimum health and healing.

The stronger your body's immune system becomes, the more resilient it is to invading pathogens.

THE IMMUNE FACTORS

Immunoglobulins
The principlal immunoglobulins that function as antibodies ared IgG, IgA and IgM. All these immunoglobulins funtion synergistically so as to complement each other in their purpose to hunt down and destroy invading pathogenic microbes.

IgG Primary functiion is to identify and assist in the destrucition of invading pathogenic microbes. IgG is the predominate immunoglobulin in bovine milk colostrum.

IgA Primary role is as the first line of defence then protecting mucosal surfaces and preventing pathogen attacks.

IgM Primary role is to fight while also enhancing phagocytes (engulfment and digestion of bacteria) thereby destroying invading pathogens.

IgE Primarily involved with the allergic reaction and with histamine associated allergic reaction as well as active defence against enteric parasites.

IgD Stimulates lymphocytes to produce antibodies.

Stability of Antibodies
An important consideration is the stability of antibodies in the digestive tract. In a study conducted to ascertain the stability of bovine immunoglobulins to proteolytic digestion, it was revealed that the specific function of antibodies in the gastrointestinal tract is not adversely affected and that biological activity is retained.

Lactoferrin
An iron-binding protein with potent broad spectrum antiviral, antibacterial, anti-inflammatary and free radical reducing effects. Lactoferrin also helps protect tissues from pathogenics, imflammaory and oxidative damage.

Cytokines
A group of substances that assist with regulation of immunity and inflammatory responses in the body. Two common forms of cytokines in colostrum are interleukins 1 and 6. They help regulate the intensity and duration of the immune response and control the communication between the immune system cells while at the same time boosting T lymphocytes activity.

Proline Rich Polypeptides (PRP'S)
These have been shown to enhance immunity by stimulating a weak immune system and/or balancing an overactive one. This can be done partly by the action of regulating the activity of the thymus gland which is often described as the 'command centre' for immune system.

Antibacterial Enzymes
These work syngertically with each other and increases anytibacterial activity in the presence of lactoferrin, forming a deadly combination for invading bacteria.

Lactalbumin
This substance, research has indicated, may have possiblities for enhancement of the immune resonponse against numerous forms of viruses and cancers including breat and liver. Lactalbumin has also been shown in vulnerable subjects to raise brain serotonin activity, reduce cortisol concentration and improve moods when under stress.

GROWTH FACTORS
Growth factors found in colostrum include Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF), Trophoblast Growth factor (TGF), Insulin-like Growth Factor (IGF) and Fibroplast Growth Factor (FGF). Their function primiraily is in the growth, development, and maturation of cells, organs, nerves, muscles and tissues. Growth factors also play a part in the body's healing and recovery processess.

PROBIOTICS
The main fuction of the digestive system is the preparation of food, making it available to the body for energy, growth and structural maintenance.
Final digestion occurs in the intestine assisted by billions of micro-organisms (probiotic bacteria).
Food is metabolised and absorbed through the gut wall into the body and it has recommended that even a healthy diet should be supplemented with the leading form of good bacteria - Lactobacillus Acidophilus. The probiotic is included in Alpha Lipid Lifeline and should be taken every day.
A critical balance of both good and bad bacteria within the intestine is vital and this balance can be affected by changes in diet, health or immune status, age, stress, and even during the use of medications.
An imbalance of these bacteria can cause effects ranging from mild discomfort to fat more serious conditions such as Bowel Syndrome and even cancers.
Intestinal Health - Significant research has shown that probiotics are beneficial in treatment of many types of diarrheoa associated with antibiotic treatment, traveller's diarrheoa, and childhood rotovirus associated diarrheoa.
Probiotics have been proven to preserve intestinal integrity and mediate the effects of inflammatory bowel diseases such as colitis. In addition lactic acid can improve intestinal mobility and relieve constipation, particularly for thise in their senior years.
Immune System
Reseach suggests that probiotics can enhance both specific and non-specific immune response by increasing local levels of cytokines and natural killer cell activity as well as having a positive effect on the immunoglobulins.
Lactose Intolerance
Evidence has shown that lactic acid bacteria alleviates symptoms of lactose intolerance by providing bacterial lactase digestion function.
Allergy
Probiotics have beneficial effect on the mucosal barrier function thus reducing the allergic reaction. Probiotics have also exhibited a positive influence on the treatment and management of other conditions including eczema, asthma and hayfever.
Cancer
Extensive research has shown that probiotic consumption may reduce the risk of colon cancer by reducing the incidence and number of tumors.
Multi-Vitamins/Minerals
Even with a good diet not all the essential itamins and minerals are obtained for good health.
Soils have been exhausted through intensive farming and food is not asnutrient rich as it previously was. Vitamin nd mineral deficiencies are commonly associated with many illnesses and the need for a complete range is the reason that they are included in APHA LIPID(tm) LIFELINE (tm).
Prebiotics
Prebiotics or dietary fibre serve the body in several ways. they not only encourage the growth of beneficial probiotic bacteria but also stimulate the action of the gut promoting good digestion and a healthy metabolilsm.

Flu and Cold
"I am now 56 years old. I was very prone to flu and cold - as often as once a month or in two months since I young. I was always prescribed with antibiotics. And since I started three years ago consuming Alpha Lipid Lifeline (colostrum) I have not caught a flu nor seen a doctor until today. I have saved a lot of midical bills.
Even when most people around me are suffering from flu or cold I do not get it anymore or at most all I got was a sniff. When that happens I will just take a little more colostrum to boost my immune system and I will be perfect.
Not only did I do not have flu anymore, even my arthritis at the joints at my fingers had dissappeared. The heel injury which I suffered when I was young while playing badminton - the pain is also gone. Today I am living a very active and energetic life. Thanks to Alpha Lipid Lifeline.

Immune Factors Fight Pathogens

Once a pathogen enters the gut, these antibodies surround it and bind onto its surface so as to prevent it adhering to the gut wall causing illness. Instead it merely passes through the system and is expelled. The more of these natural antibodies you have, the stronger your immune system will be.

Natural Immunisation
One of the most incredible facets of the immune system is that it remembers all the pathogens that it is exposed to, so that the next time a similar pathogen enters the body the immune system recalls it and quickly reporduces anytibodies to fight it off. This is the concept behind vaccinnation agasinst key pathogens enabling the body to form antibdies prior to disease exposure.

Chemical antibiotics
The medical solution to destroying pathogens is usually pharmaceutical antibiotics. Since the introduction of penincillin in 1940 antibiotics have been hailed as the answer to all our health worries, but this is not entirely true.

# Antibiotics only kill certain types of bacteria. They do not work on viruses or many other forms of pathogens.

# Antibiotics generally will destroy the good bacteria in your gut as well as the bad.

# Bacteria are developing an immunity to antibiotics at an alarming speed. So much so that the Centre of Disease Control has stated "anitbiotic resistance is one of the leading threats facing the human race today".

People are Looking for Natural Effective Ways

Increasing numbers of people are looking for natural, but effective ways to remain healthy and like the majority you may also need an immune boost.

Where do you find that safe, natural immune boost?

There is only one solution ans that is colostrum - nature's ultimate source of natural antibodies.

Dengue Fever
"I was diagnosed with dengue fever on August 10, 2001 and my platelet count upon hospitalisation was 86 and dropped to 70 the next morning. I decided to take 1000mg of colostrum 3 times daily. By the morning of the 3rd day the platelet count had risen to 88 and my feer subsided. The next morning my platelet count showed 124 and I was discharged from the hospital in the afternoon. Upon reaching home I went through the notes on colostrum and found 3 words "platelets derived factor". From that day I took 6 colostrum vege capsules 3 times a day and about 4-5 litres of drinking water. Three weeks later my platelet count was 228 and I was officially cleared on 28 august 2001".

Centre of your Health

Ill Health Begins in Your Guts

The gastrointestinal tract (GI tract) is considered the centre of your health, the major parts of which are your intestine (gut) and bowel. It is said that 80 % of ill health begins in the gut and that this is where most of the pathogens that cause illness begin to attack the body.

Balanced Gut = Health
It you want to be, and stay healthy, you must have an effective balanceed gut. some key points are:
  • How healthy is the gut wall? Are there holes, cell damage, or is it inflamed? Many people suffer from gut wall damage often referred to as 'leaky bowel syndrome' which can cause a varying range of problems from poor energy to bloating and other conditions which are even more severe.

  • Are there sufficient immunoglobulin and other immune factors? These are the body's natural antibiotics which neutralise the pathogens that cause illness.

  • Are there sufficient supportive digestive aids such as friendly bacteria and digestive enzynes?
Your Health is Constantly Under Attack
Your health is constantly under attack. Disease-causing pathogens are found everywhere. They are the countless bacteria, viruses, fungi and moulds that cause ill health. The body is exposed to millions of them everyday, and our modern, stressful lifesytle often weakens our defences causing continual illness.

Toddler Diarrhoea
"Our three and a half year old son Liam has had ongoing problems with loose bowel movements everyday, which he could not control. He was diagnosed with "toddler diarrhoea" at the age of two. It was incredibly difficult to toilet train him, and as the attacks often came without warning, was terribly embarrassing for him. After further consultation with the doctor, blood tests were taken, but there was no underlying cause. However, Liam was found to be low in iron, probably due to being fussy eater. The doctor told us he would probably 'grow out' of his bowel problems by age of four - but months later he was still suffering.

We were introduced to colostrum (Lifeline) by a friend and thought it might help Liam, so we gave it to him in a milkshake every second day. This helped his bowel motions immediately. Now at three and half years old he is now a better eater, and no longer lacking in iron. His bowel motions are 100 % better and he is going to the toilet normally and is much healthier little boy. He is now going to kindergarten and hasn't had any problems regarding his bowel motions there. Thank you New Image - lifeline has helped Liam so much, and we'll continue to use it!"

Making of Colostrum and Animal's Well-being

First five litres given to the calf
Once a cow has given birth, she produces approximately 30 litres of colostrum over the following 72 hours. The first five litres of the colostrum is given to the calf as this is vital for its survival and health. These first five litres provide sufficient colostrum to ensure that adequate nutrition is given, and that ongoing herd quality and subsequent production of colostrum and milk for the future is maintained.

Flash-Pasturised 72 Deg Centigrade for 15 seconds
The remaining colostrum is then collected, skimmed and flash-pasturised at 72 deg Centigrade for 15 seconds. This is long enough to kill any microbes, but not long enough to damage the delicate bioactive elements. The product is then low heat dried maintaining the bioactivity and leaving a white powder.

Low Heat Drying Process
This low heat drying process which was pioneered in New Zealand has a loss of bioactivity of less than 3 percent. From this stage it is manufactured into capsules, tablets and powdered drinks.

New Zealnad, colostrum is collected fresh and immediately processed
In New Zealand, the cows all calve at the same time of the year, so the colostrum is collected fresh and processed immediately. In other countries calving occurs all year round and the colostrum must be frozen prior to processing. Colostrum processed from fresh is believed to be far more effective.

100 % Pure New Zealand
The colostrum produced in New Zealand has earned world wide respect and recognition for its purity and quality. Those who have researched and used this unequalled health supplement have long been convinced that New Zealand dairy farmers produce the world's best. Even farmers from United States of America have agreed that New Zealand has some of the best dairy farming practices seen on the planet.

Cattle have a more developed immnune system and beneficial enzymes
The New Zealand climate allows pastures to grow readily, enabling the cows to be pasture-fed all year round. Because of the daily exposure to soil bacteria these cattle have a more developed immune system. The healthy green grass as well provides beneficial enzymes, some of which are found in the colostrum aiding in its assimilation. The intesely managed, year-round pasturelands in new Zealand result in the cows requiring little or no supplemental grains.

Quality Control
In New Zealnad, the Ministry of Agriculture (MAF) and Plant Product Group twice yearly convenes to review standards relating to colostrum. Production, storage and transportation of the product must all be in accordance with the New Zealnad Food Safety Authority (NZFSA) code of practice which regulates the complete process from cow to consumer.

Must be certified by MAF
All dairy farms and milk production facilities must be certified by MAF whcih has strict guidelines as to how the colostrum is harvested, transported, processed and stored for maximum potency and safety. All factories are also required to be compliant with International Standard (ISO).

No use of hormones, antibiotics, harmful herbicides, pesticides, no residue .....
The purity and safety are not the only reasons for colostrum to be from dairy farms where there is no use of hormones, antibiotics, harmful herbicides or pesticides and no residue of radioactive or toxic contamination.
Fully effective Colostrum
Researh has shown that to be fully effective colostrum should be prepared without freezing or excessive heat.

Multiple Sclerosis
"Twenty years ago, I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and the neurologist who diagnosed this suggested I begin taking cortisomne. well, being the careful person i am, i began to do reasearch about this drug. Upon finding information that indicated severe side effects and possible long-term damage to some major organs, i declined. So, 3 years later, I came upon alternatives healing i.e. herbs, vitamins etc. Even with this, i still had the major battle of locating a natural product to assist with my autoimmune disease.

I came across an article on colostrum and decided, after much research, to try it. This was about 3 years ago and thanks to colostrum, my immune sysem is stronger than it ever was, even before my daignosis of MS. I have also recommended colostrum to a couple of friends who has also have MS, and their stories are just as mine - success! It has also helped my skin condition - eczema."

Colostrum's History

Early in the 20th Century
Early in the 20th century it was noted that antibody levels in the first milk produced after birth (colostrum) were much higher than were found in the milk produced after 72 hours. It was already known that these antibodies contained certain properties that enhanced protection.

Antibiotics properties
Prior to the development of the sulphur drugs and antibiotics, colostrum were used for the natural antibiotic properties it contained.

Albert Sabin advocated the use of colostrum
A physician, Albert Sabin who is creedited with developing the first polio vaccine, was an advocate of colostrum use and had in fact originally isolated the first anti-polio antibodies from bovine colostrum.

40 years later Campbell and Peterson developed hyperimmunised colostrum
About 40 years later Campbell and Peterson, using an orthodox vaccination protection theory, developed a programme whereby cows were immunised with a mixture of attenuated pathogens before the birth of their calf. The colostrum collected from these animals was reffered to as immune or hyperimmunised colostrum.

Prophylactically and Therapeutically successful
Research which was conducted using the hyperimmunised colostrum milks showed it to be prophylactically and therapeutically successful in preventing and treating pathogens capable of causing infections in the intestinal tracts, ranging from E.Coli, infant rotovirus, Cryptococcidiosis, diahorea in AIDS and other immunodeficient patients, dental carie formation anda variety of other conditions.

Kummer 1992, colostrum prevent gastrointestinal disease in infants
In 1992, Kummer was the first to demonstrate that colostrum from non-immunised cow can prevent gastrointestinal disease in infants.

1998 McConell, Otago University New Zealand
In 1998, McConnell and her colleagues at Otago University, New Zealand, in conjunction with the New Zealand Dairy Group demonstrated that it was possible to produce a colostrum from pasture-fed non immunised cows which showed greated antibody volume and activity than that of the hyperimmunised equivalent.

The New Zealand Dairy Industry pioneered the 1st commercial colostrum
The New Zealand Dairy industry pioneered the first commercial colostrum collection system. Hundreds of dairy farmers with more than 400 cows invested in separate stainless steel tanks
and the companies devellpd the means by which to collect, pasturise, dry and store colostrum in large quantities.

New Image International introduces 'Lifeline (Trade Marked)"
New Image International pioneered the marketing of colostrum with the creation of a product from the first batch by the name LIFELINE (Trade Marked)

There is a lack of knowledge in the world about colostrum and we will supply you with the latest researched information regarding this outstanding product.

What is COLOSTRUM?

Colostrum is literally nature's first food. It is the pre-milk fluid that all female mammal give their new born baby in the first few days after birth. complex cocktail of vital immune and growth factors that a baby needs to protect itself against the diseases it will exposed to, and assists with the development of the newborn into a strong and healthy adult.

Human babies acquire their immunity in the womb prior to birth, receiving immune factors
via the placenta. breast feeding then provides the additional protection, whcih explains why breast-fed babies are generally healthier than those that are bottle fed.

Cows must provide all of the immune and growth factors to their calves in the colostrum as they do not receive any while in the womb. It is not surpringin therefore that a cow's colostrum contains up twenty tiimes more immune factors than does human colostrum.

Because colostrum is non-species specific, it can significantly benefit all other mammals including humans.

For centuries the colostrum taken from animals has been consumed by children and adults.

People in India have used it as a traditional rememdy for thousands of years. Research over the past two decades has proven that bovine (cow) colostrum is one of the most effective nutritional supplements available for supporting the immune system. It is also well renowned for aiding tissue repair.

A complex substance, colostrum has many components, all of which have specific purposes and actions. Together they create a new 'super food' which can be used by just about anyone.
